The symposium, "From the Rising of the Sun to Its Setting: Chant and Contemporary Liturgical Music, East and West," will examine the heritage of liturgical music in East and West and will cover topics such as chant, contemporary music and assessing the suitability of music for the liturgy.

Lectures, workshops, worship and fellowship are included in the programming. The symposium will feature Cappella Romana, the renowned vocal chamber ensemble directed by Alexander Lingas, lecturer in music at the City University of London. World-renowned scholars, composers and clergy, including His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, Monsignor Richard Hilgartner, Margot Fassler and Anthony Ruff, will present on the legacy and contribution of liturgical music to the life of the Church.
