During this workshop, based on the research on writing and teaching writing, participants will work on the design of writing assignments for their course. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a set of assignments and received feedback and suggestions from others. There will be the opportunity for further individual discussion at the end of the workshop.

Part-Time Faculty members who teach Spring 2017 (and who are not Full-Time LMU employees) receive a $50 honorarium per workshop for participation after receipt and approval (required!) of an informal application. Applications can be submitted by email to teachers@lmu.edu and should contain the following:
- Name and Department.
- LMU courses taught in the past 2 years, if any, and course(s) scheduled/expected to teach spring 2017 and fall 2017– a list of course number(s) and title(s) for each semester.
- Workshop(s) to be attended.
- A short explanation for the relevance of each workshop for the applicant’s teaching, i.e. linking the workshop content to the class taught and describing why the workshop topic is relevant and how lessons learnt will applied in the course(s) taught. [max 200 words]
- Any specific aspects you would like to see addressed in the workshop.
- CC Department Chair/Program Director; they will be contacted to confirm the information provided and secure their support.

Fall 2017 Part-Time Faculty members are welcome to apply - payment of the honorarium can occur only once Part-Time Faculty members are on the payroll for the spring semester. Applications need to be received prior to the workshops, latest by EOB on 1/3/17; for full consideration submit ASAP. Applications are subject to review and depend on available funds and slots. Generally, workshops are conducted only with 3-10 participants. For more details, see HERE.

Part-Time Faculty members should consider combining this workshop with the workshops on Wednesday, 1/4, on Course Design and Thursday, 1/5, on Active Learning and Assignment Design. Part-Time Faculty members who would like to attend several workshops are welcome to submit one combined application satisfying the above criteria.

Breakfast will be available at 8:30am. Lunch will be provided at the end of the workshop. If you have any specific dietary needs, please do let us know.
