About this Event
1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045
#lmumusicIn this springtime of hope and promise when this part of our world once again turns its face from darkness to light, from dying to rising, and of moving from what was to the new possibilities of what can be, the LMU Choruses under the direction of John K. Flaherty and Jeremy Lee have programmed music that reflects the people and music of the world, and of this place in which LMU is situated - the most musically, ethnically, culturally, racially, gastronomically, and artistically diverse geographical region in the entire world. This is the world in which our students are singing, living, and learning, while also nourishing their bodies, minds, and souls as they grow in this time and history.
This evening features music performed in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Hebrew, Arabic, Korean, and Latin and composed or arranged by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Eric Whitacre, Michael Trotta, HyoWon Woo, Neil Ginsberg, Alexandra Olsavsky, Lori Tennehouse, Saunder Choi, Kinley Lange, and Eoin Conway, among others. Traditional songs originating and drawing inspiration from Scotland, The Philippines, Ireland, Korea, The Sudan, Israel, and other corners of the world will be performed, ferrying us deeper into this mystery of life on this musical and sensual journey to its culmination with Elaine Hagenberg’s Southern California premiere of Illuminare!
Assigned seating in all areas. Online ticket sales only. There will be no cash or credit sales at the door.
