DESCRIPTION:Join us on February 27th\, 2025 at 5:30 pm at the Ahmanson Audi
 torium (UNH 1000) for a special screening of Bucha. Bucha is a dramatic fe
 ature film based on the true story of a refugee from Kazakhstan who\, in t
 he spring of 2022\, risked his life to save hundreds of Ukrainians in town
 s of Kyiv region occupied by Russian troops (2024\, 118 mins\, English sub
 titles).  \n\nKonstantin Gudauskas is a Jew\, born in Kazakhstan\, but rec
 eived political asylum in Ukraine.  After the Russian invasion begins on F
 ebruary 24th\, 2022\, he is able to travel freely to the occupied territor
 ies and evacuate civilians from there thanks to his Kazakh passport. Durin
 g the next months he saves 203 people by taking them out of the occupied t
 erritories. Konstantin observes firsthand the horrors of war and atrocitie
 s of the Russian occupation. Throughout this time he is advised and guided
  by a woman\, Haide Rizaeva\, a Crimean Tatar\, employee of the Main Intel
 ligence Directorate\, who was twice held captive by Russian separatists an
 d was on death row before escaping. She helps Konstantin\, but when he sto
 ps listening to her advice\, tragedy strikes. \n\nThe screening will be fo
 llowed by a Q&A with the film's producer and screenwriter Oleksandr Shchur
 . The event will be hosted by Father Cyril Hovorun\, director of the Huffi
 ngton Ecumenical Institute\, and Professor Katerina Zacharia\, director of
  the Classics & Archaeology Learning Community Series. The screening and Q
