20/20 in Hindsight:   Coping, Confronting, and Creating Change

A Call for Art from the Department of Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount University.  The deadline for submission is April 16, 2021 at 12 noon.

In 2020 the United States struggled to confront a global pandemic, a political crisis, and a history of systemic racism, anti-blackness, and inequity. In 2021 the struggle continues. The virtual art show, 20/20 in Hindsight: A Year of Coping, Confronting, and Creating Change invites you to look back on the events of the last year, while looking ahead to the future. We are seeking art from diverse voices that served as a way to cope; that confronts social inequity; brings together communities; and/or advocates for change.

If you have artwork that deals with these themes, please submit an application, along with high-quality images or video links by 12 noon on April 16, 2021 to Anthony.Bodlovic@lmu.edu.

This will be a virtual showcase so large-scale projects, community artworks, and digital/video work are welcome. The show will be juried by the alumni group Active Cultural Explorations Committee (ACE), whose mission is to advise the department on cultural considerations in education and community outreach, and provide professional development to alumni on cultural awareness through workshops, community excursions, research opportunities, and art events.

This Art Show is part of the Marital and Family Therapy with Specialized Training in Art Therapy Department’s 10th Annual Research Symposium, titled: Amplifying Voices Through Culturally Relevant Research and Ways of Knowing During the Era of COVID-19. This virtual event will be held on May 16, 2021.   To learn more about the Symposium , click here
