As part of the Bellarmine Forum, Loyola Law School Professor Jessica Levinson '02, J.D. '05 will speak about the influence of money in politics and campaign finance law. Campaign finance laws aim to balance free speech rights with the need to maintain democratic integrity and specifically ensure fairness, transparency, and to prevent corruption. Levinson will analyze legal challenges to those laws. She will focus on the landmark case Citizens United v. FEC (2010), which expanded corporate and union spending, and the rise of "Super PACs," and "dark money."
