 ent maker in the Gianyar region of Bali and currently on loan to the Insti
 tute from the Department of Music\, these sessions are open to all members
  of the LMU community.\n\nGamelan-playing is an integral aspect of communi
 ty life throughout Bali. Participation is a process through which details 
 of rhythm\, melody and form are “brought into the heart.”  Inspired by
  this process\, as well as by the beauty of the music and the instruments 
 themselves\, this evolving tradition flourishes today in schools and commu
 nities both inside and outside of Bali. LMU is fortunate to be among these
