View map Free Event

Moderated by: Dorothea Herreiner, PhD, CTE Director

During this workshop, participants will work on the design of their courses based on the basic learning outcomes and objectives of the course. At the end of the workshop, participants will have developed the main aspects of their course and received feedback and suggestions from others.

Part-Time Faculty members who teach Fall 2015 (and who are not Full-Time LMU employees) receive a $50 honorarium per workshop for participation after receipt and approval (required!) of an informal application. Applications can be submitted by email to teachers@lmu.edu and should contain the following:
- Name and Department.
- LMU courses taught in the past 2 years, if any, and course(s) scheduled/expected to teach fall 2015 and spring 2016 – a list of course number(s) and title(s) for each semester.
- Workshop(s) to be attended.
- A short explanation for the relevance of each workshop for the applicant’s teaching, i.e. linking the workshop content to the class taught and describing why the workshop topic is relevant and how lessons learnt will applied in the course(s) taught. [max 200 words]
- CC Department Chair/Program Director; they will be contacted to confirm the information provided and secure their support.

Spring 2016 Part-Time Faculty members are welcome to apply - payment of the honorarium can occur only once Part-Time Faculty members are on the payroll for the spring semester. Applications need to be received prior to the workshops, latest by EOB on 8/17/15; for full consideration submit asap. Applications are subject to review and depend on available funds and slots.

Part-Time Faculty members should consider combining this workshop with the afternoon workshop on active learning. During the morning workshop assignments and learning activities will not be discussed specifically - it will focus on overall course design. Part-Time Faculty members who would like to attend both workshops are welcome to submit one combined application for both satisfying the above criteria.

Breakfast will be available at 8:30am. Lunch will be provided at the end of the workshop. If you have any specific dietary needs, please do let us know.

Please direct all questions and RSVP to teachers@lmu.edu or x85866.
Participation in this workshop is open to all Faculty participants - RSPV required.

This program will be video and audio taped and may be podcast. By your willing participation in the program, you expressly and irrevocably consent to be photographed, videotaped and/or audio taped and quoted/cited. The films, tapes, and other digital recordings will become the property of the Center of Teaching Excellence, LMU.
