A Walsh SoTL Grant is given to assist faculty members in implementing pedagogical innovations in their classes based on the relevant scholarly literature and in documenting the results of these innovations for dissemination. What distinguishes this grant from the other two is that it requires a carefully structured and relevant assessment plan of the teaching innovation and a clear and appropriate plan for dissemination to the scholarly community at large (usually in form of a publication in an appropriate peer-reviewd SoTL or disciplinary journal). A project under this grant needs to investigate a teaching innovation that is relevant to the larger scholarly community and is designed such that it will lead to publishable results. This grant is different from a typical pedagogy grant (not offered by the CTE) in that the question to be investigated has to be rooted in the scholar's own teaching.
