The third Faculty Pub Night of the 2019-2020 season features Kris Brancolini, Dean of the William H. Hannon Library, and Marie Kennedy, Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian. Brancolini and Kennedy will discuss their recent publication,  Enhancing Library and Information Research Skills: A Guide for Academic Librarians.

Special Note: This talk should be of interest to practitioner-researchers in any field of study, not just library and information science professionals!

About Faculty Pub Night:

Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and any members of the public are all invited to the 2019-2020 series of Faculty Pub Night at the William H. Hannon Library. Eight LMU professors (four per semester) are selected annually to discuss their latest publication or project in a comfortable setting and format that welcomes diverse perspectives for an inclusive conversation aimed to educate the entire community. All Faculty Pub Nights are free and open to the public. Pub refreshments and snacks will be served courtesy of the William H. Hannon Library.

About the Authors' Work:

In the early 2000s, the library and information science profession began to focus on evidence-based practice, assessment, and accountability, leading more librarians to think about how research might enhance their performance – bridging the gap between research and practice to become librarian-researchers. In 2010, the authors began examining the factors that lead to research success, including institutional support, the research networks of the librarian-researchers, research self-efficacy, and more. They are exploring ways to increase the number of librarians who conduct and disseminate research that meets the highest standards for rigor. This has culminated in multiple peer-reviewed publications, the development of the Institute for Research Design in Librarianship, and the book, Enhancing Library and Information Research Skills: A Guide for Academic Librarians.
