The eighth Faculty Pub Night of the 2023-24 season features David Offenberg, associate professor of entertainment finance (College of Business Administration). He will discuss his recent book, "Independent Film Finance: A Research-Based Guide to Funding Your Movie."

 

About Faculty Pub Night

Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the public are all invited to the 2023-24 series of Faculty Pub Night at the William H. Hannon Library. Eight LMU professors are selected annually to discuss their latest publication or project in a comfortable setting and format that welcomes diverse perspectives for an inclusive conversation aimed to educate the entire community. All Faculty Pub Nights are free and open to the public.

 

About the Author's Work

About the Author

 

David Offenberg is an associate professor of entertainment finance in the College of Business Administration, and is amongst the world’s leading academic experts in entertainment finance. His alumni work across the entertainment industry, at the major studios, independent studios, talent agencies, and financial firms. Offenberg won the most prestigious teaching award for finance professors in 2018, the Financial Management Association’s Innovation in Teaching
Award. He is frequently quoted in the press, with mentions by CNBC, Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, L.A. Times, NPR, Vanity Fair, Wall St. Journal, and The Wrap. He also provides financial and analytical consulting services to independent filmmakers and studios, and often delivers keynote addresses to entertainment industry professionals. He received a Ph.D. in finance and a B.S. in industrial management from Purdue University. When everything works
