Ken Aiso, violin, and Valeria Morgovskaya, piano, present their fall semester recital with a program of two substantial sonatas for piano and violin. Johannes Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 1 (1879) is in melancholic mood, and is sometimes called by the nickname “Rain Song”. Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No.1 (1946) was written fairly late in his career. It is heavy and dark with moments of other-worldly beauty.
This recital launches Mr. Aiso's & Ms. Morgovskaya’s two new CD albums released this year: “Brahms 3 Violin Sonatas” (Tsehai Publisher/Marymount Institute Press) and “Memory ~ Music from Georgia” (SPEX).
