Every Tuesday, we gather in front of Sacred Heart Chapel or in "The Cave" (the lower level of the chapel) at 11:30 AM to make and pack approximately 100 sack lunches. Then at 12 PM, members of the LMU community drive to our partnering agency, the Access Center (Formerly Ocean Park Community Center) in Santa Monica to distribute lunches and enter into friendship with the homeless and hungry. This program strives to be a practical way for students and the greater LMU community to engage in direct service, come to know a concrete social justice issue, and deepen an understanding and commitment to our faith.
If you are free anytime between 11:30-12:00 pm on a Tuesday to prepare the lunches, or would like to help deliver the lunches with us from 12:00pm-1:30 pm (transportation is included, but space is limited), please feel free to sign up in advance through our online sign-up or by simply showing up in person. This is a great and easy way to have your office give back to our community. You are welcome to join us for as little or as long as you are able to, any and all help is always appreciated.
If you have any questions, or would like to sign up as an entire department, please feel free to contact John Paul Ramirez by email at JohnPaul.Ramirez@lmu.edu or by phone, 310.338.2862.
