The Haunting of Hannon is back for a fifth year in a row and once again the William H. Hannon Library is teaming up with LMU Theatre Arts students to haunt the stacks of Hannon Library.

This year's theme, Murders in the Rue Bibliothèque, will bring to life the stories of mystery, imagination, and the occult detectives and paranormal investigators of literature, including:

  • Seabury Quinn's Jules de Grandin and Dr. Trowbridge
  • Algernon Blackwood's John Silence
  • William Hope Hodgson's Thomas Carnacki, the Ghost Finder
  • Many Wade Wellman's John Thunstone
  • Sax Rohmer's Morris Klaw
  • Joseph Payne Brennan's Lucius Leffin
  • Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes
  • Margery Lawrence's Miles Pennoyer
  • Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot

and great mysteries, such as "The Problem of Cell 13," Wilkie Collins' "A Terribly Strange Bed" and "The Aluminum Dagger." Plus, there will be a demonstration of what happens when you die of fright! All hosted by Poe's master detective,  C. Auguste Dupin.

So throw on your trenchcoat, grab your doctor's bag and investigator's kit, and prepare to find out who has been killing people in the Rue Bibliothèque, does the Veiled Prophetess really predict the future, and what caused the wailing apparition of a young woman on the third floor to appear nightly!

The tour sign-up table will be located on the 3rd floor atrium and tours will leave the library's Von der Ahe Suite (also on the 3rd floor) approximately every 10 minutes.

Guests may sign up for tours starting at 7:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the first performance, on October 20. The last tour leaves at 10:30 p.m. We encourage you to arrive early to ensure your spot.

This event is free and open to all. Note that this program is not recommended for children. Families are encouraged to join us at Saturday's Haunting of Hannon Library which is more appropriate for audiences 6-12 yrs (and yes, Bunnicula will return!).

Costumes are encouraged. Tricks and treats are guaranteed!
