Los Angeles faces one of the most severe housing challenges in the nation. Rising rents, a shortage of affordable homes, and persistent homelessness have created a crisis that affects nearly every Angeleno. Join us for a panel discussion with Los Angeles City Council and City Attorney Candidates as they share their plans to tackle homelessness and housing insecurity, improve affordability, and strengthen tenant rights and protections.

Guest Panelists:

  • Faizah Malik - Managing Attorney, Public Counsel, Housing Justice Initiatives

  • Estuardo Mazariegos - Co-Director of ACCE Los Angeles

  • Marissa Roy - Deputy Attorney General, California Department of Justice, Tenants Rights

Conversation moderated by Fernando J. Guerra, StudyLA Director and Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies and Political Science and International Relations and Mike Bonin, Executive Director of the Pat Brown Institute at Cal State LA.

After the event, students are welcome to join us in the POLS Village for dinner and conversation.
