The event will include a keynote speaker, a moderated panel discussion, and a post-event reception. The event's focus is on the impact of AI on society, a topic that affects all of us and intersects with our scholarly and academic lives. The event is open to all.

The featured keynote speaker is Dr. Safiya U. Noble. Dr. Safiya U. Noble is a Professor at UCLA, where she serves as the Director of the Center on Resilience and Digital Justice and Co-Director of the Minderoo Initiative on Tech & Power. She is the bestselling author of Algorithms of Oppression.

The moderated panel discussion features LMU faculty scholars from a diverse range of disciplines, along with our keynote speaker. The LMU faculty included are: Dr. Mairead Sullivan (moderator, Professor of Women’s & Gender Studies in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts), Dr. Jordan Freitas (panelist, Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Seaver College of Science and Engineering), Colin Doyle, J.D. (panelist, Associate Professor of Law at Loyola Law School), and Justin Trevor Winters (panelist, Instructor of Screenwriting & Creative Technology at the School of Film and Television).

We will conclude the evening with a post-event reception from 7:15 to 8:30 pm in the nearby Hannon Courtyard. Join us as we kick off this season of events with an intellectually stimulating and engaging symposium.
