The LMU Center for Religion and Spirituality invites you to this webinar on Facebook Live introducing the forthcoming Ignatian Year, marking the 500th anniversary of the conversion of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Un seminario similar en español se llevará a cabo el 13 de mayo.
On May 20, 2021, the Society of Jesus and the Ignatian family will start the worldwide celebration of an Ignatian Year, marking and celebrating the 500th anniversary of the crippling cannonball injury St. Ignatius of Loyola incurred at the Battle of Pamplona on May 20, 1521. It was an important failure for him in the way he had imagined his future, full of courtly riches and worldly exploits. However, this apparent failure was, in actuality, the beginning of a profound conversion that led St. Ignatius to dream bigger, no longer centered on himself, but rather on God. It helped St. Ignatius to see all things new in Christ (the motto of the Ignatian Year), which is why the theme of this Ignatian Year is conversion.
This webinar will air on Facebook Live; time listed is set to Pacific Time. Click here to visit our Facebook page. Participants are invited to ask questions via the comments section of the livestream. For further information, please email the Center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
