KaleidoLA Speaker Series 6.0: ANDREW MERKIN, Managing Producer & Director of Moment Factory (LA Office)


Andy Merkin production credits include projection mapping shows for Universal Studios, Disney, interactive music videos, and virtual reality for Google and Comic-Con. Andy is also the Director of Operations for Breathing Books, the transmedia publishing company founded by Cornelia Funke and Mathew Cullen releasing the Reckless series, Dragon Rider Series, Wild Chicks Series, and The Book No One Ever Read. He is a frequent speaker on transmedia production strategy including UCLA, USC, Harvard Business School, and Art Center and festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival, LA Film Festival, and Sundance. His award-winning projects include Cannes Lions, SXSW Interactive Awards and the 2006 Time Person of the Year. Andy is an active member of the New Media Council of the Producer's Guild of America.  Andy holds an MS from MIT in transmedia production management, an MBA from HEC-Paris in creativity management, and an AB with Honors from Rollins College in anthropology/ international business. Andy’s previous work experience includes heading Special Projects for Guillermo del Toro’s production studio Mirada, development and production for Sony Pictures Television, training entrepreneurs in the Peace Corps in Bangladesh, performing improv, and teaching zoo keeping skills for Busch Gardens.

KaleidoLA: The Speaker Series of the Department of Art & Art History provides a context to explore a ‘kaleidoscopic’ range of interdisciplinary and intersecting experiences in the art world.  Drawn primarily from Los Angeles arts professionals, the speaker series features presentations and workshops by a spectrum of emerging and veteran practitioners, as well as, recent alumni from LMU’s art and art history program. 

The series is free and open to the university and the public.
