November 20: DR. MELODY RODARI, Assistant Professor of Art History (LMU), "Collecting Asia: South and Southeast Asian Art in American Museums." Professor Rodari received her B.A. and M.A. in art history and museum studies from Boston University, and her Ph.D. in art history from UCLA. Prior to coming to LMU, she was curator of Asian art at the Norton Simon Museum. Her talk on Collecting Asia will examine the movement of both people and art from South and Southeast Asia to southern California during the 1960s-1980s. Specifically, the talk will examine the collecting history and display of South and Southeast Asian art at LACMA and the Norton Simon Museum.
