In the 1970s and 1980s, feminists and queer people set about building a new world. Where feminist and lesbian perspectives, stories, and wisdom were barred in the mainstream, feminists and lesbians had to do it themselves, and they did - In politics, in law, and in letters. This special Women’s History Month event celebrates the flourishing of feminist cultural production and queering the archive by feminists and lesbians, both then and now. Join us in conversation with Carolyn Weathers and Jenny Wren, founders of Clothespin Fever Press, a press devoted to lesbian writing of all kinds, founded right here in Los Angeles. We will also talk with LMU's very own Jordan Boaz, whose senior thesis project for Women’s and Gender Studies sought to uncover and to build LMU's queer archive by finding traces of queer life in LMU’s past and by reaching out to queer alumni to tell a different story about queer resilience and joy at LMU.
