Free EventStudents are identifying within the LGBTQ spectrum more broadly and at a higher rate than ever before. Designed for learners across various levels of knowledge, this training series hopes to answer basic questions, build skills, and engage faculty in discussions around how to make classes more intentionally inclusive for all students.
LGBTQ 102~ Expanding on Gender Identity
This training will focus primarily on expanding your understanding of gender identity. We will cover the differentiation between Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Sex, Sexual Orientation, and Romantic Attraction at length. This training will also give tangible guidance on how faculty members can be upstanders in the classroom for their Trans and Gender Non-Conforming students. In addition, we will give an overview of helping students navigate various situations specific to the TGNC community.
Training Objectives:
Overview of Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Sex, Sexual Orientation, and Romantic Attraction
Provide opportunities for faculty and staff to work through scenarios
Review best practices for working with Trans and Gender Non-Conforming students
Assess the barriers students face in academic institutions
Training sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Excellence at LMU. This training is for LMU faculty and staff members who would like to learn about the Trans and Gender Non-Conforming community at length.
