This Fall, help us share the magic of reading with the children of Los Angeles.

For a child, a book can be something akin to magic: books can take them anywhere, teach them new things, and become their most dependable friends. Unfortunately, some children in Los Angeles do not have even a single book to call their own.

Between October 14 – November 15, we are collecting new and gently used books for children ages 0-12. Our goal is to collect 1000 books for 1000 children. Want to help us out? Here’s how:

  • Drop books off in the book drive box in the William H. Hannon Library or into one of the collection boxes located in Departments who have gratefully joined the cause, including: the Theology Department outside of U-Hall 3727, the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office in U-Hall 4600, Academy of Catholic Thought and Imagination (ACTI), and LMU Children’s Center (LMUCC).
  • William H Hannon library is also grateful and excited to announce that the Gryphon Circle Service Organization has agreed to continue to support CII’s cause this year by holding a fundraiser – go and support!

The books will be given to children at the Children’s Institute Inc. Holiday Party in December. The Children’s Institute (CII) has been supporting the needs of children and families in Los Angeles who are survivors of violence for over 110 years. This is the fifth year of our partnership with CII.

Help us bring the magic of reading to Los Angeles children this holiday season!
