Exploring the synergies between mindfulness and social justice we will look at how society is mind, it's not personal, but we are responsible to be responsive. Scientific research has shown that even well meaning people operate with implicit bias - stereotypes and attitudes we are not fully aware of that nonetheless shape our behavior towards people of color; others perceived as different from us. Working with implicit bias as facilitators, we will shift from relying solely on individual practice paradigms to a community/systems approach; exploring how this shift from individual to community mindfulness competency informs our direct way of knowing—and teaching.
