Los Angeles is at once the largest Catholic archdiocese in the United States, and the most religiously diverse city in the world. It has the second largest Jewish population in America (after New York City), and one of the largest Muslim populations. As one of the oldest, Catholic institutions of higher learning in Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University maintains an institutional commitment to interfaith dialogue, especially between Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
With support from the Martin Gang Institute for Intergroup Relations, the Center for Religion and Spirituality invites you to this interfaith dialogue public forum. A panel of representatives of the Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim communities will talk about their own tradition’s relationship to God, as well as the challenges and opportunities interfaith encounters present those working in pastoral ministry throughout the Southland. These presentations will be followed by a public Q&A and discussion.
A joint reception (with food that is respectful of the dietary traditions of the three religions) will follow.
