During this workshop, you will learn foundational mindful eating principles and practices from a trauma-informed perspective. Mindful Eating–Compassionate Living focuses on rediscovering a joyful relationship to food, learning to trust our internal wisdom, and examining the relationship between consumption and social justice. Mindful Eating-Compassionate Living is based in Buddhist practices of mindfulness and compassion. Participants will engage in meditation, mindful movement, mindful eating practices, discussion, and receive take-home materials to support their practice.

About the Speaker
Sharon A. Suh, Ph.D. is professor of Buddhist Studies in the department of Theology and Religious Studies at Seattle University. She is the author of Occupy This Body, A Buddhist Memoir (Sumeru Press, 2019), Being Buddhist in a Christian World: Gender and Community (University of Washington Press, 2004) and Silver Screen Buddha: Buddhism in Asian and Western Film (Bloomsbury Press, 2015). Dr. Suh is a mindfulness teacher and has developed and presented workshops on trauma, healing, and mindfulness, mindful movement, trauma-informed meditation, body image and body acceptance, and mindful eating practices.
