Reparations or reconciliation for the harms of policing became a central plank of various social justice movements across the country last summer. A feature of these social justice movements was the demand that the police acknowledge and account for the ways that they misused their power to harm particular communities. Communities demanded that the police engage in a process that centers and elevates their experience and history of being policed in a discriminatory way. What does justice for the harms of policing look like? Does it take the form of a police–community reconciliation process that could take place on a city-wide scale across the country? Or does reparations for policing work independently of reconciliation? In this panel, we will discuss concrete proposals for reparations and reconciliation.

I really wanted to attend but my zoom link did not work and was not sent an alternative method to access the meeting, a little disappointment. However, I am glad conversations like this are happening at LMU.
