What does it mean to live in poverty? Participate in a poverty simulation exercise where students, faculty and staff will be assigned roles as members of families.

  • You will be assigned a role in a family.
  • About 15 minutes of the simulation will be like a week in your life.
  • You have to make ends meet….You have to pay the rent.
  • In the end, we ask you to think about what you did, how you felt and what you learned about poverty.

The exercise will be conducted by Ronald Duncan, a community educator in Illinois, who has designed and conducted numerous poverty simulations. He is licensed by the Missouri Community Action Network.

RSVP to subsistencemarketplaces@gmail.com by January 25th.

Sponsored by Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative, Marketplace Literacy Project and A-LIST Marketing Pathway.
