Join us for a special event featuring James Kenneth Hahn, the 40th Mayor of Los Angeles, as he reflects on his time in office, his enduring legacy, and his perspectives on the current state of the city, California, and the nation. Mayor Hahn, the only individual in Los Angeles history to have held all three citywide elected offices—City Controller, City Attorney, and Mayor—will share insights from his decades of public service, including pivotal moments such as his leadership in defeating city secession efforts and his appointment of LAPD Chief Bill Bratton, which led to significant crime reduction. This is a unique opportunity for students to engage with a leader whose decisions have shaped the fabric of Los Angeles and to hear his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities facing our communities today.

Conversation moderated by Fernando J. Guerra, StudyLA Director and Professor of Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies and Political Science and International Relations.

After the event, students are welcome to join us in the POLS Village for dinner and conversation. Student conversation moderated by LMU students Maricia Marquez, Class of 2027, and John Kassabian, Class of 2026.
