Dr. James Finley will draw from passages in his memoir and related sources in marking out the path, the way of life, in which we are healed from all that hinders us from experiencing the steady strong currents of divinity that flow on and on in the bittersweet alchemy of our lives.  He will trace out his own healing journey from his years of childhood trauma that led to the healing graces he received in six years living as a monk in the cloistered Trappist monastery of the Abbey of Gethsemani, where he received spiritual guidance from Thomas Merton.  His reflections will include what he learned in nearly thirty years of being with the men and women who shared their healing journey with him in psychotherapy and spiritual direction.  At each phase of his exploration, he will suggest ways we can deepen our experiential understanding of the healing path he invites us to explore.
