DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: Sep. 25 – Dec. 6\, 2025\nOpening Reception:
  Sat. Sep. 27\, 1 – 3PM\n\nRelated Events\n\nDuring the Chicano Movement
(1965–1980)\, individuals of Mexican descent fought for civil rights an
d cultural reclamation. In solidarity with the Movement\, LMU alumni Arman
do Durón ‘76 and Mary Salinas Durón ‘75 began collecting Chicano/a/x
art as a means to preserve cultural identities and historical narratives.
This exhibition\, drawn from The Durón Family Collection\, offers a dist
inct journey through Chicanx art from the mid-1900s to the present. Displa
yed in various media — including painting\, drawing\, photography\, and
sculpture — Seeing Chicanx paints a vivid picture of the Durons’ dec
ades-long commitment to supporting Chicanx artists within Los Angeles’s
regional art scene. \n\nThis exhibition was originally curated by Dr. Kare
