Simulation and the Abstraction of Violence

Artist and writer Gelare Khoshgozaran will present recent and
in-progress work on the representational challenge of
temporality. Working primarily in video, film and installation
her work ponders the artist as witness who, through
remembering, may offer a gendered embodied understanding
of historical narrative. Her most recent film, “Medina Wasl:
Connecting Town” (2018) was presented as part of the Hammer
Museum’s Made in LA Biennial. Generously sponsored by the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and the Department of Art and Art History.
