Established in 1977, Special games is a student-run organization. Special Games was founded as a day of celebration for the mentally and physically challenged in the Los Angeles community. It is non-competitive and there is no cost for athletes. LMU students can serve as coaches to encourage and cheer on their assigned athlete while playing games, participating in activities, and while taking meal and rest breaks. Volunteers serve wherever needed in support of the day’s activities. Volunteers may serve food, clean-up, set-up, and help athletes. In 2020, Special Games will be held on the consecutive Saturdays of March 21 and March 28 from 8am-2pm. Contact Special Games moderator, Dr. Lezlee Matthews, at 310-338-2959 for more information.
