About this Event
1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045
#lmulibraryThis exhibition, curated by graduate student Trinity Catlin (English), is inspired by the theme of this year’s Haunting of Hannon Library, "Secret, Dark, and Midnight Things," which explores the works of William Shakespeare. Taking the idea of “haunted by Shakespeare” to a different space, Strange Matters responds to the haunting by exploring the magic, mystery, and otherness in five of William Shakespeare’s plays, with attention to the influence and impact of the Western colonial narrative. The exhibition ponders texts and images, social mores, challenges, and resistance to help answer the question: How have we shaped Shakespeare as much as Shakespeare has shaped us?
The exhibit will be on display October 7, 2024 through January 31, 2025 in our Terrance L. Mahan, S.J. Gallery (library level 3). The gallery is open Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during regular business hours.
