Promoting and Protecting Indigenous Land & Water: the Owens Valley Indian Water Commission

The Owens Valley Indian Water Commission works to protect water resources and expand food security for current and future generations, continuing a history of stewardship that dates back since time immemorial - and intersects with the taking of Owens Valley water by the City of Los Angeles in 1913 through the opening of the Los Angeles Aqueduct.  Join us for a talk by Executive Director Teri Red Owl and Paiute Language Carrier Glenn Nelson to discuss this history and their work.

Sponsored by LMU's Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; History Department; Laband Gallery; and Phi Beta Kappa.
