The Baltimore Waltz by Paula Vogel (Stages of AIDS)

When Anna, an unmarried schoolteacher, is diagnosed with ATD (Acquired Toilet Disease, a fatal new malady with a high risk factor for elementary school teachers), she and her brother Carl take flight to Europe. Vogel’s whimsical fantasy about siblings dealing with a fatal disease was inspired by her own brother’s death from AIDS in 1988. Donations will be accepted, which will benefit local AIDS charities.
