Dr. Tyrone Howard, author and professor at UCLA, will join us virtually to discuss his writing and work as a professor, researcher, and activist.

Prof. Howard's renowned book Why Race and Culture Matter in Schools builds on three studies that investigated schools that were successful in closing the achievement gap for students of color. He is the founder and director of the Black Male Institute at UCLA, which seeks to identify and promote practical interventions, reliable research, effective programs, best practices, and responsible policy innovations that are informed by interdisciplinary perspectives in order to improve the educational outcomes of Black males. He is also Professor and Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.

This event was organized by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Committee at LMU School of Education.
