Brenda K. Wiederhold, PhD is President of the Virtual Reality Medical Center (VRMC); Chief Executive Officer of the Interactive Media Institute, Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD and a member of the Medical Staff at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief of CyberPsychology, Behavior & Social Networking Journal.
Dr. Wiederhold is the author of 300 scientific publications and 18 books. She is a recognized leader in the use of Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) in the treatment of stress-related disorders, chronic pain, and anxiety disorders (panic, posttraumatic stress, and phobias).
Dr. Wiederhold conducted the first randomized clinical trials using VRET to treat fear of flying and Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans suffering from PTSD. She has lectured and conducted training programs both nationally and internationally in the use of VR therapy.
