#women's historyA special performance of Maria Cominis's play, The Women of Zalongo.
A grant recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the play is inspired by Maria Cominis's Greek grandmother and her fragmented childhood memories prior to her immigration to the US in 1915.
Family secrets, intergenerational trauma, and historical memory are woven into the lives of four generations of women whose family line reaches back to the heroic women of Zalongo.
A reception prior to the performance will take place at the Santa Monica Playhouse courtyard at 6pm.
Seating is limited. You may reserve your ticket here
You will receive a confirmation upon availability.
Tickets are $55. We respectfully ask payment by CHECK ONLY (made at “The Caloyeras Center, LMU”) at the Santa Monica Playhouse box office on the day of the performance.
The production is under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Greece in Washington, D.C., and the Consulate General of Greece in Los Angeles.
