The Black Student Space at the Bird's Nest, built in 1972, was developed to provide a safe space for the formation and holistic care of Black students, as well as faculty and staff. We recognize that for the Black community, there are culturally specific needs that have gone unattended regardless of LMU’s Jesuit heritage. The Black Student Space provides ample space for congregation, mentorship, as well as showcase of resources. Physical resources for use include free usage of computer stations, printers, and lounge furniture.
